Are you a fan of spicy, creamy, and crispy snacks? If so, you’ll love these Air Fryer Jalapeno Poppers! These bite-sized treats are delicious and addictive appetizers that will surely be a hit at any party or gathering.
The jalapeno peppers are stuffed with a creamy and flavorful filling, then dipped in bacon bits and cooked to golden perfection in the air fryer. They’re a healthier alternative to traditional fried jalapeno poppers, as they’re cooked with minimal oil in the air fryer. Plus, they’re ready in just a matter of minutes!
Recipe Notes:
- Wear latex or vinyl gloves when handling and slicing your poppers to avoid any potential burning sensation on your hands from the jalapeño juice. And try to avoid touching your face!
- Another way to cut your poppers is by slicing only a third of the top of your popper off, which will provide a sturdy shape to stuff – it’s totally up to you.
- Another great idea is to wrap a slice of bacon around each popper should you want a meaty popper option – it also helps to keep the popper upright and the stuffing inside while cooking.
- You can store leftover poppers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days and reheat them in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes.
- You could also dip these jalapeno poppers into crushed pretzels for added texture.
- Colby cheese can be used in place of cheddar cheese if you prefer.
Yes, you can! You could either assemble these the night before and store them in an airtight container to be fried the following day or freeze them assembled ahead of time and then cook them whenever the occasion calls for a delicious platter of stuffed poppers!
To freeze ahead, assemble your stuffed poppers and then line them up on a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Allow them to freeze like this for 2 hours before placing them in a zip-lock bag so they don’t stick together.
If you have young children, you may want to make a slight adaptation to this recipe by using stuffed mini bell peppers instead of jalapeños.
It also depends on the maturity of your child’s palate and their tolerance to spicy food. If in doubt, the mini bell pepper option is a great alternative. Just make sure to use a different color mini bell pepper to avoid confusion, i.e., use a green jalapeño for the adults and a yellow or red mini bell pepper for the kids.
