Grinder sandwiches are the new trending sandwich on social media. I am always a little leery when a new trend hits because what happens if it doesn’t taste good right, but I completely get the hype.
These grinder sliders are AMAZING! A fresh hot sandwich topped with this delicious slaw mixture and fresh tomatoes that will be a hit for any crowd.
Recipe Notes:
- Since these sliders are usually served warm, and fresh out of the oven- you can eat them cold if you have leftovers. I would say we liked them the day after but after that, the slaw made the rolls too soggy. So, if you have leftovers, you can add them to an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to one day.
- When serving if you are planning to have a large crowd and doubling the recipe you can also leave the slaw topping on the side, so your guest can add as little or as much topping as they would like.
- When purchasing lunch meat, I usually ask the deli for 1⁄2 pound of each lunch meat and sandwich slice on the size of the slice. This will give you the perfect amount. Some say ham is a great option as well as turkey. I had turkey already and it was a perfect combination.
- Let’s talk cheese- this is completely your preference when it comes to cheese. Provolone is always a great choice, but you can also try mozzarella, pepper jack, or even your common white cheddar cheese.
- These sliders are the perfect summer sandwich served with fresh fruit and your favorite bag of potato chips.
Let’s talk substitutions shall we- I know I will get some questions on whether can I use this instead of what you had in your ingredients list so here is what I would substitute that would still give you the same or somewhat similar taste.
▪ Turkey can be replaced with Ham
▪ Provolone cheese can be replaced with Mozzarella, Pepperjack, or even white cheddar cheese.
▪ Olive oil Mayonnaise can be replaced with regular mayonnaise.
▪ Red Wine Vinegar can be replaced with White Vinegar.
▪ Pepperoncini can be replaced with Banana Peppers.
▪ Italian Herbs can be replaced with dried herbs.
▪ Kerry Gold Herb Butter can be replaced with 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, butter, 1⁄2 teaspoon of dried parsley.
▪ The head of lettuce can be replaced with a bag of shredded lettuce.
Grinder Sliders
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut Hawaiian rolls in half. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a 9×13 casserole dish.
- Add salami, pepperoni, and turkey on top of the rolls.
- Add sliced provolone cheese.
- Place the top of the rolls on lunch meat and cheese. Pour melted butter over the rolls. Cover with aluminum foil and place the casserole dish in preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- While the sliders are baking grab a large mixing bowl and add shredded lettuce, onions, and pepperoncini.
- In a small bowl whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, olive oil, yellow mustard, 1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
- Pour mayo mixture over shredded lettuce and mix lettuce until fully coated.
- Remove the sliders from the oven and cool for 5 minutes before removing the top rolls.
- Add sliced tomatoes then a spoonful of slaw on each roll before adding the top roll back to the slider.
- Top sliders with fresh Italian herbs and parmesan cheese.
- Serve warm and enjoy.

Ingredients
- 1 bag or 12 individual Hawaiian Rolls
- 1/4 lb Salami (about 16 large deli slices
- 1/4 lb Pepperoni about 16 large deli slices
- 1/4 lb Turkey slices
- 8 slices of Provolone Cheese
- 4 tablespoons Kerry Gold Garlic Herb Butter melted Slaw Topping
Slaw Topping
- 1 small head Iceberg Lettuce shredded
- 1 small Red Onions thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup Pepperoncini diced
- 1/2 cup Olive Oil Mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 2 teaspoons Yellow Mustard
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Parmesan Cheese freshly grated 1 tablespoon Fresh Italian Herbs
- 1-2 large Tomatoes thinly sliced
Instructions
