Organic September is the month to ‘go organic’. It’s a campaign set up by British Corner Shop and the Soil Association – and here at Creative Nature we have a strong relationship with both of those organisations.
During the month, people are encouraged to eat, drink and use organic products.
What does organic mean?
It means working with nature rather than against it, using environmentally friendly farming and production methods where possible. That includes the highest standards of animal welfare, restrictions on the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides by farmers, and forbids the use of GM (genetically modified) crops and ingredients.
Working in this way is also good for environmentally sustainable management of land and the natural environment. This more natural management of land, also encourages wildlife to flourish.
How can you engage with Organic September?
You don’t have to change everything in one go, if you decide to ‘go organic’. Why not replace just one everyday item each month to an organic one?
Not only can you replace food items to become organic, but beauty products, household cleaning goods and clothing.
Most supermarkets have their own range of organic goods, so next time, you shop, give yourself time to explore what is available at your local supermarket. Or, even better, why not explore your local independent zero waste shops which are popping up more and more?
If you’re still not sure you want to ‘go organic’, why not find a local restaurant that focuses on organic food, to try out before buying.
Or, of course, buy from us where we take sustainability very seriously. You can find out more about that here.
Creative Nature’s Organic Products
Many of our products are organic, alongside being allergen free, gluten, dairy, wheat and nut free.
Baking Mixes:
Wholegrain Banana Bread Baking Mix: This is a classic banana bread, but without all of the ingredients that our fellow allergy suffers need to steer clear of. They can enjoy this bread like everyone else. Easy to bake, with an amazing banana taste and full of moisture – you will come back for more! It can be frozen too to be eaten at a later date.
Chocolate Chip Muffin Baking Mix: This is a recipe you can enjoy, whether you suffer from allergies, coeliac disease, gluten and / or dairy intolerance.
Organic Chia & Mulberry Muffin Baking Mix:
Another favourite for muffin lovers! You can add extras, such as a mashed up banana, or chocolate chips to make them even more delicious.
Chia & Cacao Choc Chip Brownie Baking Mix: Everyone loves brownies, though sometimes they can be a bit of a pain to make from scratch. With our baking mix, it is quick and easy, and you end up with indulgent, chocolatey brownies by just following a few simple steps.
Superfoods:
Organic Cacao Powder: high in iron, magnesium zinc and copper, as well as antioxidants. Similar to your cocoa powder you may already have in your cupboard, but a healthier option.
Organic Maca Powder: this is a Peruvian root vegetable, rich in minerals and vitamins. This can be incorporated into a variety of both savoury and sweet recipes.
Organic Shelled Hemp Seeds: omegas 3, 6 and 9, in a yummy began salad topping. A healthy alternative to other edible seeds, full of a nutty and delicious flavour.
Organic Barley Grass Powder: this is grown in the lush, rolling pastures of New Zealand. This is an essential ingredient for anyone wanting to take their green juicing regime to the next level.
Organic Cacao Nibs: our Cacao Nibs come from the Criollo beans growing deep in the Peruvian Rainforest. These beautiful little nibs are crunchy in texture and have a wonderfully bitter Chocolate taste that goes perfectly as toppings on smoothies, smoothie bowls and porridge. They are a healthier alternative to chocolate chips, because they have not been heat processed.
If you want to try going organic in September but feel nervous about knowing what to try, why not buy one of our baking mixes, or swap out your normal cocoa powder and chocolate chips or Cacao Powder and Cacao Nibs.
