Since I first bought my silicone popsicle molds, I have given these babies a whole lot of use. From creamy peach popsicles to refreshing fruit popsicles and everything in between, I’ve done it all. At this point, you could call me the Popsicle Queen. Queen of Popsicles? Crazy lady who refers to herself as a ruler of icy treats? Whatever you want to call it, I know my popsicles. And these Strawberry Popsicles are IT.
I’ve experimented with a lot of different homemade popsicle recipes, but nothing quite beats the simplicity and ease of this one. No crazy ingredients, no lengthy process, no dirtying up every dish in your kitchen. All you need is fruit, honey (or any sweetener), water, a blender, and some popsicle molds. Simply blend everything together and pour the puree into popsicle molds.
I like to use strawberries for their delicious flavor, nutritional content, and vibrant color, but you can use any type of fruit you like in this recipe. My biggest recommendation here is that you use fruit that is currently in season, as that’s when it tastes the best and is typically the most affordable.

Although we initially freeze our popsicles in the popsicle molds, this isn’t the best method of storage on a long-term basis. This helps them to retain their texture, flavor, and color for longer, while simultaneously working to prevent freezer burn. When properly stored, these healthy homemade popsicles will stay fresh in the freezer for up to 2 months.

How long does it take for homemade popsicles to freeze?
When making homemade popsicles, you should let them freeze in the popsicle molds for at least 6 hours. I prefer to let them freeze overnight when I have the time. I know it can be tempting to pull them out of the molds after a few hours when they seem frozen, but if you take them out too soon then the center will likely not be fully frozen and the popsicle will wind up falling apart.
Can I use frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones?
Of course. If strawberries aren’t in season or you want to use frozen strawberries you already have at home, you can absolutely do that. However, make sure you let the berries thaw out first if you decide to use frozen ones.
How do you get popsicles out of the molds?
It should be fairly easy to slip your popsicles out of the molds, but if you’re having trouble there’s a quick fix for that. Simply run the bottoms of the molds until warm water for 10-15 seconds and they should slide out easily after that.
What can I substitute for honey?
If you don’t have honey or simply want to use something else, you can swap it out for another natural sweetener like maple syrup or agave.
Can a food processor be used to make popsicles?
Absolutely! A food processor will work great to blend the strawberries. Simply add everything to the food processor and puree to your desired consistency.
